Shawna previously served as an Administrative Assistant in the Materials and Testing Lab at PENNDOT, and prior to that she served in a similar capacity in the Bureau of Human Resources at PENNDOT for 11 years before joining the Technology Council Team in January 2004.

In those capacities her duties included the full range of administrative support, but specifically she served as an SAP power user for purchasing and was responsible for all purchasing for the bureau including the management of all invoices and accounts payable. She was also responsible for the annual budget preparation, monitoring and reporting for the bureau. The annual budget for the Bureau of Human Resources was over $5 million, $3 million was personnel costs for 60 employees and $2 million was other expenses.

In that capacity, she was responsible for providing human resources support for the bureau itself including personnel transactions, timesheets, leave, benefits, security and other personnel matters. In this capacity she served as training coordinator, maintaining training records and coordinating training and development, and so has an understanding of workforce development issues.

She also provided support to the Bureau's leadership council and coordinated bureau-wide meetings. She maintained the reports and information as well as prepared a portion of the Bureau Director's monthly dashboard report to the Deputy Secretary. She has served on committees to plan and implement major conferences with over a thousand attendees as well as being the project manager for the annual two-day human resource officer's conference.

She is skilled in the MS suite of office products as well as other applications including SAP. She has been trained and has an understanding of continuous quality improvement processes and has been part of gap closure and quality improvement teams.

She also does not come into the nonprofit sector cold. She currently serves as President of the Fairview Township Volunteer Fire Company and so understands many of the rules governing nonprofit organizations and specifically member supported organizations.

Shawna is also working on her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
